Quite a lot of interesting....read bizarre.... gates to be found out in the desert near Palm Springs. Here is one, where metalwork designed to look like palm or banana leaves has been welded over the regular wrought iron gate! I'm sorry about the security sign, but it was there and I don't feel like digitally removing it. It's been a busy weekend, and I'm just glad to be home and am adding to yesterday's blog entry with the bonus picture, doing this one, and trying to re-format the Worth picture page. Lots of work.

Think of the security sign as the dirt on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, i.e., part of the composition's history. (Which, okay, they cleaned off, but that's the NEXT chapter in the composition's history.)
Yes, that is an odd choice to add to the doors. The addition of the sign is interesting though, as why go through the trouble of putting up those decorative leaves as a way of getting more privacy but still keep the place fancy, and then slap on an ugly sign.
Even with the sign there, it's still a pretty gate. :-)
I love these creative doors & gates from the desert area. And you tackled the lightproblems quite well.
So many great doors and gates! I find myself rushing to your spot to see what you've found next!
I find myself noticing doors and gates in my area, thanks to your project!
Wow! What an eye-catching gate. Great pic, also the Bonus one. I'm always looking at doors and gates 'cos I like taking pics of them.
I've never seen anything like these gates before! What do these people do for a living..I wonder?
Great job on all of them!
Great gates. I love the bonus shot. Looks like the gate into the voodoo doctors office.
I think that is one of the most original gates I have ever seen.
Probably my least favourite set of gates so far. I think the security notice adds to the photo. I'm glad you didn't remove it.
Amazing set of gates, they look like yellow banana leaves. I also like the big crack in the middle of the drive, it shows not everyone has a perfect driveway.
Now that's one of the weirdest gates I've ever seen. Those banana leaves are really something... I like that you kept the sign :)
That looks like a very cool gate, although maybe a bit Over The Top. Maybe they had a regular gate, and then decided they need more privacy. I like the way the sun catches it to glint just a little.
A very original style of gate.
It is a shame how so many people feel the need to have security warnings.
