Day 17 - His and Hers Gates?

This was another "Wait! Back up!" moment. Despite my 31-Day Frenzy, my trip was not all about scoping out doors and gates. Yeah, hard to believe. So, as we drove to outlying areas, looking for open land, streams, and general countryside vistas, we almost missed this gate. Or gates. I almost did a double take after noticing the graceful curves of the "pedestrian" entrance gate next to the monogrammed double vehicle gates leading to the home in the rear. I don't really see the need for the pedestrian gate (since it was locked anyway), so my guess is that the owners (the "W" family) probably couldn't settle on a style of gate, and compromised by having two gates, two styles, one next to the other. Any other guesses why?

I also have no idea, why. I can come up with theories, but they are all far-fetched and most assuredly wrong. I love that red chalet in the hills, I actually feel it makes the photo. Nice work, Carol. :-)

Strange!

I like how yu included the house in the top corner - it makes the photo have more of a homely feel to it.

Maybe they use the pedestrian gate in summer when they ride horses and things, and they put it in afterwards, so that's why it's a different style...? Love the fact that it looks so forlorn out there in the middle of nowhere! Great spot and good exposure for that snow!

A lovely snowy pic, this is what I love to see.
Well, don't know why they had 2 styles of gate, maybe one was added in after the other?
Maybe someone likes to weld?
You should have gone in and asked Carol...LOL

I think because opening a single gate is faster and easier when on foot (bike ;) ) than the big one.
I love the pattern of the little one and hope you took a shot of it solo against the snow, the elegance fits the house in the distance. The big one gives me more a feeling of "showing off" with the big W.
Including the house gives the gates their reason of existence.

Lovely winter scene that does make one wonder. The fence wouldn't keep much in!
