Day 14 - Mediterranean

For today's image, I had to look for a nice door/gate AND find one in a vertical orientation for my thumbnail gallery. Hmmmm, are we getting a little compulsive here? Our coastal area is comparable to a Mediterranean climate, and there are a lot of olive trees. We had a large one in front of our prior house. Today's house isn't particularly big, but it's thematic and carries out the look well in good proportion. Framed by Mediterranean plants and an olive tree, the ornate front door and facade just say "Wine Country!" Please click on the image to view in full, so you can see all the well-considered accessories in greater detail.

Note: I am leaving early tomorrow morning (while still dark, so no chance for a pic) to go to Utah for 4 days to try for some winter (snow) photography. Unfortunately, it doesn't look promising for me to be able to process and upload images I take, though I do have an idea up my sleeve to try to make it happen. If you don't see image changing for four days, rest assured I have not given up the Frenzy. I will post my daily photos when I get back.

What a beautiful shot. The colours all work so well together and I really like the detail of the steps.

Beautiful door and beautiful shot, nicely frames with foliage. I love the little detail of the pretty little mailbox, casually leaning on the entrance wall. Makes me think the people inside are not too stuffy. Best of luck to upload while you are away. Can't wait to see what you find on vacation.

This works well as a vertical. The stairs to be included, as well as the side pots and walls all look great. Definitely feels inviting and makes me want to walk up there and knock. The quality of light you show in all these pictures - all nice and warm and golden - really makes your gallery sing...

I am at a loss for words. It seems that every day you seem to be coming up with a photo that just blows me away. I hope some magazine sees your photos and wants them. They truly belong in a magazine.

The ironwork on the door is fantastic, so very elegant, and you are right on everything matching so well.
Including the stairs and the branches arching the door frame it beautifully.
I envy your golden light that enhances your finds.
Have fun in the snow and the challenging light it creates.

I really really really really love your theme. T've always loved entrance ways in genearl and you've captured them in a beautiful way.

Beautiful entry! I really miss the avocado trees myself. I hate spending $2 each for something that used to be free...

I enjoy your pictures every day!
Each one is beautiful. I do not think I could fine one door or gate like these in Indiana.

Oh, I hope the doors come back. I am truly enjoying the variety and the beautiful doors and gates in your neighborhood. Makes me miss California!

My favorite!

Gosh I like this one. So many of the doors and gates seem to say "keep out".....but this composition shows not so much a barrier as an entry that is welcoming.

I really like this one. It's great that you stepped away from the centered composition, the curving stairs really make this happen. Lovely.

I have liked all your doors very much indeed but this one particularly appeals. Maybe it's the steps that lead you up to the front door. Now waiting for Days 15, 16 and 17.

Very pretty doorway. Over here, you can't really tell what they look like because of all the tall gates hiding them. I'm excited for your return with all your winter shots :) Maybe we'll see some snow covered gates and doorways?
